MSD Malaysia first established its presence in Malaysia in 1965. It started off by distributing products throughout Malaysia, with a staff strength of five employees. In 1978, MSD licensed its business to a distributor, forming a division within the distributor’s business group. In 1993 MSD was established in Singapore, with MSD Singapore taking over the Sales and Marketing function from the distributor the following year.

| In December 1997, MSD Malaysia was established. It functions as an independent entity and is the subsidiary of Merck & Co. of the United States. Today, MSD Malaysia has more than 200 staff working hand in hand to bring out the best in medicines for Malaysians. |

Over the years MSD Malaysia has seen the successful launch of products in therapeutic areas such as neurology, genito-urinary, cardiovascular, respiratory, dermatology and muscular-skeletal diseases, and also vaccines, antibiotics, anti-fungal and anti-viral medicines.
