MSD Malaysia - BoneCare
MSD

Bone Care is a bone screening program for osteoporosis. The program was initiated in 1999. Since then more than 10,000 patients have benefited from the Bone Care program.

Osteoporosis is a silent disease that usually manifest no symptoms in majority of patients until a fracture occurs. It has been recognized as a major health problem, particularly in the elderly. The incidence of osteoporosis-related fractures is expected to rise in Malaysia.

The objectives of bone screening are :

  • To create awareness of osteoporosis among post-menopausal women
  • To assist doctors in identifying high risk female osteoporosis patients for further investigations

A woman's risk of hip fracture is equal to her combined risk of breast, uterine and ovarian cancer. Quality of life may be greatly impaired in individuals with severe osteoporosis, as the condition may give rise to pain and deformity with a resultant limitation in functional activities.

Ultrasound bone screening helps doctors identify those at risk of osteoporosis. The bone screening that we offer is a painless, non-invasive and safe  procedure targeted at measuring bone density
