MSD and Schering-Plough have now completed the merger of the two companies. While the names of the legal entities in each market will vary, the combined company will be called Merck in the United States and Canada, and MSD outside the United States. With the merger in place, operations will remain separate for some time and the timing of the integration of operations will vary from market to market.

MSD is now a health care leader with a diversified portfolio of prescription medicines, vaccines and consumer health products, as well as animal health products. The combined pipeline has nearly 15 promising late-stage candidates spanning the stages of life, and the newly combined company will have a presence in more than 100 countries around the world, including emerging markets.

The new company is already a leader in a broad range of areas, including cardiology, infectious diseases, diabetes, respiratory, vaccines, women's health, sun care and animal health, and we are also focused on expanding our offerings in other areas, such as neurology, oncology and dermatology.
