We have come a long way in giving back to society - whether it's through our 'It Begins with You' (IBWY) medical program, our 'Lend A Hand' (LAH) corporate responsibility program or our pharmaceutical students program called 'Industrial Pharmaceutical Externship Program' (IPEP).

It Begins With You was first initiated in 2005 to address the low ratio of doctor to HIV-patient, by raising awareness among medical students of the dire need for more HIV and AIDS treaters. It also seeks to address the stigma associated with the interaction and treatment of people living with HIV and AIDS (PLHIV).

The programme continually invites resources and expertise of partner organisations to address these issues and positively impact the lives of PLHIVs. Previous advocacy initiatives included participation of medical students from various universities, namely International Medical University, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Putra Malaysia.

Launched in 2006, our 'Lend A Hand' program is dedicated to establishing long-term commitments with organisations to help make a difference in local communities. Community and charitable activities under 'Lend-A-Hand' is to foster volunteerism among employees. Two Fridays have been allocated per year for such activities. Additionnally, we provide 20 hours of paid leave for every employee to volunteer in charitable initiatives undertaken by MSD.

IPEP started in 2008 and it is a 4-week long program. Initiatied by the University of Nottingham and MSD, its aim is to provide pharmacutical undergraduates with the opportunity to discover the different career roles and possibilities in a corporate environment within the healthcare industry.
